Writing progress #1

The snow had fallen all night. I knew, because I’d sat up watching it. Now, as the sun began to peak through the clouds at the horizon, the snow was just beginning to let up.
Twelve inches of fluffy white snow coated my front yard- and my car.

She raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you know who I am?” she asked, her voice taking that awkward squeak that only teen girls seem to be able to produce.
“Let me guess,” I said, “You’re some sort of angel sent to change my course back to whatever some bullshit god wants?” She giggled a high-pitched, ear-splitting giggle reminiscent of the sound two wine glasses make when clinked together.
“I suppose, in a sense, you may be right. I mean, at one time in my existence, I was an angel. Me and that ‘bullshit god,’ as you called her, had a bit of a falling out. I took it a bit more literally,” she said, casually checking her fingernails.
“What?”
“I’m the dark Lord Satan.” Her eyes shot to me, a smirk on her lips.
“No, really.” I rubbed my forehead skeptically.
Her expression turned serious, her mouth twisting into an inhuman scowl. “You think I can’t choose the vessel through which I experience this world? Am I supposed to be some middle-aged man who runs a tobacco company and donates money to organizations that club seals?”
“At least then you might have a decent voice,” I countered. It was truly difficult to take her seriously. She’d assaulted me with pompoms, for fuck’s sake. I was glad that she’d dropped those chasing me, though. Otherwise, there was a good chance I’d have one being forced down my throat by now with the looks she was giving me.
“Oh, burn,” she said, rolling her eyes.
“Well really, what can you do as a bimbo cheerleader who’s still in high school that you couldn’t as a CEO of a megacorporation or something?”
“As if I’d give you my whole plan. You children sure are predictable. You’ll just have to wait and see.” It was then that I noticed it- her skin was glowing. In some spots it was only a pale white-ish glow that made her look even paler than she usually did, but in other spots it was orange and it nearly obscured all of her natural skin tone.
Maybe she really was Satan.

On a Lazy Sunday

I'm sitting at BP. Think it'll be a good day to get a couple paragraphs done on a story.
It's gloomy as hell today. Completely overcast, murky gray snow on the ground and the roads are slick and icy.
I made a new blog specifically for my next BIG project, Stories of the States. You can find it at http://storiesofthestates.blogspot.com and it will be updated whenever I have news about the Stories of States road trip or funding or book. It will also be HEAVILY picspammed every time I stop at a place with wifi.

There is an indiegogo campaign for it at http://indiegogo.com/storiesofthestates where you can donate as little as a dollar and get a free signed paperback copy of Stories of the States once it's released.

I've been blogging a lot lately

It's more like I'm thinking out loud, only on the internet. I think I'm doing it to avoid doing real work because real work scares me. Also it's work. whereas writing this blog and having it monetized and whatever takes about zero effort. So I've decided something:

Every day that I update my blog, I have to write at least one paragraph of regular story.

Not only that, but I have to upload it as its own blog entry to show you what I've accomplished for a day.

Are you ready for complete and total anger and upset from a writer?

Fail Emma has failed

So I did have a short story written that I was going to release yesterday- BUT then like a dolt I forgot to save. And my computer decided to freeze and I was unable to save it.
I'll have something new for you lot soon though.

I feel like this needs to be said

I am not a bestselling author. I don't have a lot of money. I rarely have any spare money, despite what you might think or observe. I'm the very depiction of the poverty line, actually. But I'm not going to give up.
I have a lot of debts to repay. I can't give up.

Merry Christmas!

I've got a surprise for you, dear readers!
Around 10:00PM on Christmas Day I will be publishing a brand new story!
Are you as excited as I am?

A New Novel Project and Other Things

I'm working on a novel. I don't know when it will be done. I'm not working on it as my main priority so it's not going to be out within the next four months at least. But I am working on a novel. It's tentatively titled Breaking Glass, and it's based on a true story.
I'm also working on a bunch of 11-story collections that I will be releasing in the next few months. They'll each be only 99 cents.
Once they're all released in e-book form, they'll be released in one huge paperback that will be priced between 10.99 and 17.99, depending on how many stories it actually ends up being and how large a book it has to be.

First short story teaser paragraph and title reveal!

I have written the very first short story in the first weekly short story collection I will be putting out: Signs of Life. The short story is entitled "Zippo." Here is the first paragraph:

A slow smile spreads across my face as I close the top of my stash container. My pipe full of something sticky and sweet, I feel around on the floor with my feet for my lighter. My socked foot bumps into something- success! I wrap my toes around it and pull it up to where my hands can reach.

Tumblr Was Down

And I panicked.
No, really.
Allow me to screenshot my Facebook timeline from the time when Tumblr was down.
Yeah, I kinda flipped shit about it. (Click to see a bigger, more readable size)

Anyway, this weekend I am setting out to begin writing one short story every night, to be released at the end of the week (Friday evenings) in a story collection on the Kindle, free for the first 5 days and then 1.99 after.
These will be absolutely random stories, just whatever happens to pop into my head. I will also be working on that Sci-Fi story that lenniershairlessballs over on tumblr prompted so I might release it in the third or fourth collection I release hopefully.
When I've got enough collections to warrant a paperback, I will release a 200-400 page paperback filled with these stories. And I will repeat this until I'm a super famous writer who's loved by millions of people!  Er, I mean I will repeat this until I finally actually write a novel and release that instead of short stories.
Anyhoo, I'm writing too much on this blog right now. I will try to update every day or every other day with story titles and character information and stuff.
See ya!

Classic Doctor Who and Fangirly Things

I'm still writing. Writing, writing, writing, but almost everything I've written is crap. I'm still trying to trudge through but my heart's not in it. I'm hoping that I can write something good soon, but until then I'm going to watch Doctor Who. Classic Doctor Who. The old series, the original series. Mostly because I can.
I've begun to write Doctor Who fanfiction. Which, of course, means that other fanfiction has been pushed off to the back burner, but hey, that's life isn't it? I still plan to write the endings to all of those fanfics I've said I'll write. But at the point I'm at right now, I can't.

I'm considering starting a new blog simply for short stories and fangirlings and whatnot. I will, of course, link it here.
For now, I'll leave you with the news that I bought a new pair of tennies today and they're super comfy.
Now if only I can fix that cash flow problem.
